The Basics - The basics of this patch is simple. Kill what you see, before it kills you.. Like regular Quake. But still, there's something different about this patch making it .. well.. fun to play in singleplayer (!!) In this review, i'll explain it all to you, so you just keep on reading!

The Game - The first time i heard about Navy Seals, i wasn't too keen about it. Not had it been hyped as much as other conversions, so it couldn't possibly be as good as it said it was. Right? Wrong! Said simply, this patch must be the very best singleplayer patch ever created for Quake. yes, that's right the "best ever"! Why? well, first of all..

The Weapons - .. Are totally awesome modeled. All the 9 (!) weapons are as close to real-life as you could imagine. Not that i'm much of a Navy Seal myself, but c'mon, we all know a littlebit about how things should act, and such. Another thing that really made my jaws fall, was the re-loading. (You have to re-load each weapon after x shots) Not just some text saying "reloading.." like in Team Fortress. Nooo.. real kickass looking re-loading frames! It's things like this which really makes this patch a winner.

The Enemies - are also *very* well done, and with frames such as jumping, re-loading, sitting down while shooting, strafing , and many more. It's almost like you really feel that you are killing real Navy seals (Hm, ok - so maybe not, but hey - this is a game, and it's as close as you could get it ;) The two enemies included in this beta version, the Terrorist, and a gun man, both re-place original Quake monsters (the soldier, and the enforcer) , so you can have fun even without custum made levels!

Maps - are in the works. None are included yet, but people are working on 'em. I hope to see some mission based maps with a future release. But you can use the maps with Enforcers and soldiers already in them you know , so you aren't missing out on too much..

The Feel - As you've probably noticed, i'm very high on this patch playing it in single player. What you haven't heard much about, though, is how it's in deathmatch. Beeing a "90% singleplayer patch" as Gooseman himself said, i think Navy Seals still is quite a greate patch in DM. Maybe not the best, due to the bugs, and maybe some missing features, but i can't complain.. We had a 3-on-3 game a few days back (with navy seals 1.81) which was really kewl. We did have much fun, but we could have even more fun if features like mines (step on 'em = booom!) , maybe different player classes, and such where also included.

The Final words - Not much more i can say about Navy Seals.. greate single player patch, ok deathmatch patch.. Said simple... F*****g Awesome! (You can quote me on that ;)
